How do I Install my Frames Data DVD?
If you are using the Frames Data DVD in conjunction with a practice management software, please contact your software provider for instruction. If you are using the Frames Data DVD on its own, please follow these instructions:
- Click the “My Computer” icon on your desktop (if you do not have the icon, press and hold the flying windows icon on the lower left-hand corner of your keyboard, and type in the letters “b-r-e”. Once typed in, the “My Computer” window will appear).
- On your “My Computer” window, locate the icon that is named “Frames CD”. Right-click on the icon, and select “Open”.
- At the “Frames CD” window, find the icon named “SETUP” or “SETUP.EXE”. It is usually represented by a small computer logo on the icon. Double click on the icon.
- Then follow the Frames Data DVD Setup instructions for installation.
- After the installation is successful, an icon on the desktop named “Frames Data CD-ROM” will appear. Double click on the icon.
Please run this install process whenever you receive a new disc to ensure that your software is kept up to date. For assistance please contact technical support at (800)-821-6069 ext. 1.
What versions of Windows does the Frames Data DVD work with? Is it Mac compatible?
The Frames Data DVD runs on:
- Windows 8
- Windows 7
- Windows Vista
- Windows XP
- Windows 2000
- The DVD is not Mac compatible.
What if my Frames Data DVD has expired?
If you are using the current issue of the Frames Data DVD, you may need to update your installation. To do this, follow the installation instructions you used to initially install the DVD (see above). The installation program will ask whether you want to "Update" or "Remove," select "Update." Complete the installation and try running the program again.
Are there color photos on the Frames Data DVD?
Yes, most frames include a full color photo.
How can I see the frames in different colors?
Currently the frames are displayed in one color, but all available colors are listed. Subscribers to Frames Data DVD have free access to Frames Data Online which does show frames in multiple colors. Click here to register and start searching for frames in color.
Can I add frames that are not yet listed in the software?
Yes, you can add frames into the frame board management feature.
Can I use the frame board management feature for primary inventory use?
We recommend using your Practice Management software as your primary vehicle for inventory management, though our software does include some very basic functionality.
How often do I receive updates?
Updates for the Frames Data DVD will be sent every quarter. You will also receive a monthly issue of the print Price Book for updated pricing information.
How do I run the Frames Data DVD on my Practice Management Software?
Each Practice Management software varies slightly when loading the Frames Data DVD data, so please call your Practice Management software provider for assistance.
Do I always need the DVD in the drive to access the data? Can it be used on multiple computers?
Unless using a Practice Management software, the Frames Data DVD must be in the drive to access frame information. Since it is required to be in the drive while being accessed, it can only be used on one computer at a time. The DVD software cannot be moved onto a server.

When can I expect my DVD to arrive?
Most deliveries are by USPS standard mail. Please allow 4 to 6 weeks for first delivery.
What is the difference between SPEX UPC and Frames Data DVD? Which one do I need?
SPEX UPC is a monthly subscription and works only with practice management software (PMS). Frames Data DVD also works with some software packages, but can also be used on its own in practices that do not have a PMS.
